SHAH ALAM, Aug 18 — The public is advised to continue observing the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) and look after themselves as a way to express their gratitude towards health workers in the country.
MedTweetMY chairman Dr Khairul Hafidz Alkhair Khairul Amin said medical workers have sacrificed their time to treat Covid-19 patients to the extent of being physically and mentally burned out.
“We do not expect any compliments from the people, we just hope they are able to take care of their health and avoid being hospitalised as this would help reduce the burden of the frontliners.
“This would also allow the frontliners to have some time for themselves and their families,” he said during a talk show titled ‘War and Independent During Pandemic Era’ which was broadcast live on Media Selangor Facebook last night.
Meanwhile, Dr Khairul Hafidz said that the ease in restrictions to certain economic sectors that was recently enforced should be reviewed to curb a spike in Covid-19 cases.
He said the same view was shared with health associations as the country has yet to reach the mitigation phase and it is concerning that the SOP relaxation would disrupt the vaccination process.
“I hope the new government would reconsider the SOP relaxation which was announced last week as our worry is based on facts and data,” he said.
Beginning Monday, the Federal government has allowed 11 economic activities in the trade and distribution sector to resume operations under Phase One of the National Recovery Plan.
The economic activities include:
