Be united in deciding sectors that can operate, ensure MCO is effective

KUALA SELANGOR, June — All relevant ministries must be united in deciding which sectors can operate under the movement control order (MCO) 3.0 to avoid confusion.

Selangor Task Force for Covid-19 (STFC) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the move is to ensure the duration of MCO could be shortened as well as to flatten the Covid-19 infection curve.

“The government must be firm in ensuring that this MCO is effective. If the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (Miti) allows more than 100,000 factories to operate, it will affect the effectiveness of the MCO.

“Therefore, Miti and other ministries need to have an understanding, do not close the front door and open the back door. That will affects the government,” he said while inspecting the free Covid-19 community screening at the Kampung Bukit Kuching Tengah Public Hall here today.

MITI has allowed a total of 128,150 companies to operate involving 1.57 million employees during the MCO.
