SHAH ALAM, March 15 — Selangor PKR is confident that the party divisions will remain strong despite the move by some party leaders in leaving the party.

Selangor PKR Leadership Council chairman Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state seats under the parliament constituency would also remain with the party following the firm support of the people.

“We remain as the pillar in Selangor and the choice of the public. As long as we are within the reformation framework, we will win.

“In politics, we cannot be complacent even if we have won but we have to continue working… moving forwards for the people. The voters are more important than the candidate and (party) machinery,” he said during the Shah Alam PKR division dinner event at the Shah Alam Convention Centre, here last night.

The event, in conjunction with the Jrlajah Kita Selangor programme, was also attended by Selangor PKR deputy chief Hee Loy Sian, Selangor PKR Women chief Rodziah Ismail and Selangor PKR Youth chief Najwan Halimi.

On Saturday, Selangor PKR had given the assurance to continue with agendas that would benefit the people while calling on all of its supporters to remain steadfast in the party’s struggles.

The statement came after Kuala Langat MP Datuk Dr A. Xavier Jayakumar, who was also the division chief, announced his immediate resignation from his post to become an independent member of Parliament and support the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.

Previously, PKR had claimed that the PN administration had threatened Opposition representatives to shift support.
