MB urges schools to improve student registry system, pick-up schedule

GOMBAK, March 1 — The students registry system must be improved before the full schooling session begins on April 4 to reduce congestion outside the school gates after school hours end.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said a proper schedule must also be prepared for parents to pick up their children to minimise the risk of the Covid-19 infection.

“There are schools that are doing two sessions but that depends on the suitability of the situation. That is also a good process and must be based on the number of students on the dates concerned.

“Not only students are given a schedule, but parents as well, which they may be required to follow until next year,” he said after visiting the opening of the schooling session at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Gombak Setia, here, today.

Close to 550 pupils from the school returned to the 2021 schooling session for both morning and afternoon sessions.

Schools were reopened in stages starting today involving pre-schoolers, Year One and Two for primary schools, followed by Standard Three up to Six, which will begin on March 8.

Secondary schools will reopen on April 4 in Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu while in other states, the school session will resume on April 5.
