SHAH ALAM, Feb 26 — Six hospitals in Selangor were chosen as Covid-19 Vaccine Storage Centre (PSV) for the vaccines to be kept before it is distributed to selected health centres for the vaccination process.

The hospitals are Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, Serdang Hospital, Selayang Hospital, Sungai Buloh Hospital, Ampang Hospital and Tanjong Karang Hospital.

Selangor State Health Department director Dato’ Indera Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman said the selection was done after taking into account the adequate facilities and electricity supply to ensure the vaccines remains in good condition.

"We use an automatic switch system with a power generator to supply electricity should the place experience a supply disruption," he said.

Yesterday, he along with Selangor Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari, and the state government excos as well as members of the State Security Council received the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine injection at the Shah Alam Hospital.

Meanwhile, Deputy Health Minister I Datuk Noor Azmi Ghazali said a total of 56 health clinics and 14 hospitals in Selangor were identified as vaccination centre (PPV).

According to him, other facilities in the state have also been identified as venues to give large-scale vaccination in the second and third phases.

"Among it is a public hall equipped with communication and information technology facilities as well as volunteer support, to ensure the success of the immunisation programme in Selangor," he said, adding that a total of 1,979 vaccinators will go on duty throughout the state.
