SHAH ALAM, Feb 22 — The distribution status of the Selangor’s Covid-19 vaccine supply will be discussed today with the ministry involved, says Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
Amirudin said that the state government is ready to assist in speeding up the process if needed.
“The matter has been discussed with the Health and Science (Technology and Innovation) Minister, so hopefully it will run smoothly and what is most important is the discipline.
“I am concerned about effective communication so that the people would understand when is the right time to get the vaccine as they may rush for it... Need to wait, there is a schedule,” he said after visiting a Covid-19 community screening here yesterday.
Amirudin said the state government is also actively identifying the first batch of frontliners to receive the vaccination.
Meanwhile, Amirudin had also advised the anti-vaccine community to consider their argument and assess the evidence from clinical trials on users.
“Findings, including those among the professional medical associations, show that they do not raise the sentiment.
“According to the Selangor Fatwa Council, the vaccine intake is compulsory for health. The Maqasid Syariah (paramount objectives in Islamic Law) also requires protection of life so the anti-vaccine group must consider it,” he emphasised.
The Covid-19 Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine supply from Belgium had arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport yesterday morning on an MH604 Malaysia Airlines aircraft emblazoned with the Jalur Gemilang livery.
