SHAH ALAM, Jan 11 — The use of the Smart Selangor Parking phone application to pay parking fees will be fully implemented beginning January 1, 2022.
State executive councillor for local government Ng Sze Han said the method is to replace the current use of the conventional parking coupons.
“This method is more efficient and convenient as it reduces the use of paper, more environmentally-friendly and easier to monitor as it includes (parking) records,” he told SelangorKini.
He said the number one parking application in the country has recorded more than 1.4 million users since it was launched in July 2018.
Ng added that the application will be upgraded to enable motorists to report the misuse of designated parking spaces dedicated towards Persons with Disabilities.
“Members of the public only need to snap pictures of the offender as evidence and send it to the local authorities for further action,” he said.
The smart parking application system is widely used by 10 local councils including the Kuala Lumpur City Council (DBKL).
