SHAH ALAM, Dec 28 — The act of law can be taken against individuals who hide their Covid-19 health status, which results in the spread of the coronavirus, says the state executive councillor for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud.
She said the suggestion would ensure that the frontliners, who are the country’s key fighters of the pandemic, would avoid getting infected by Covid-19.
“Our frontliners must be protected. Maybe before going to see the doctor or receiving medical treatment, patients need to fill up a no-symptom declaration form.
“The procedure of body temperature-taking and oral enquiry are not sufficient. However, dishonest individuals can also be charged,” she told SelangorKini today.
Yesterday, the Health director-general Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah had warned the public not to lie to frontliners and conceal their health status when seeking treatment or undergoing Covid-19 screening.
This followed a Facebook post shared by a doctor about her patient’s dishonest act of lying to her about his health status during his health screening which resulted in the doctor being infected by the virus.
On December 22, Dr Noor Hisham had disclosed that 1,880 health workers were confirmed to be Covid-19 positive through screenings conducted up to December 15.
