SHAH ALAM, Dec 21 — The Selangor International Business Summit 2020 (SIBS 2020), held virtually this year, reached an impressive turnout of 170,974 digital audiences.
The annual state-led SIBS 2020 which was held from October 14, and extended to October 20, garnered over 2,618 registered users this year.
Audiences were from 54 participating countries including Japan, Indonesia, India, Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines, according to a post on the Selangor International Business Summit Facebook page today.
Running into its fourth year, the virtual event was catered for a larger and more diverse audience attracting a total of 286 exhibitors, 51 speakers and yielded 282 matched businesses.
This came on the back of a (public relations’) value of RM9,445,733.77 despite the worsening Covid-19 pandemic developments in the country.
In his virtual address, while launching the SIBS 2020 on October 14, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said they will continue to use SIBS to promote and strengthen the state as a commercial hub in the Asean region.
“The administration through Invest Selangor Bhd will continue to organise the SIBS 2021 with an allocated sum of RM11 million.
“A conducive economic ecosystem on the back of infrastructural convenience and investor-friendly policies have always been Selangor’s exceptional criteria,” said Amirudin.
Organised by Invest Selangor Bhd with the endorsement of the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade), the SIBS 2020 hosts exhibition, conference and webinar series featuring four main components, namely the Selangor International Expo (SIE), the Selangor-Asean Business Conference, the Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention and the Selangor Research and Development and Innovation Expo.
