SHAH ALAM, Dec 11 — Selangor has recorded 823 new Covid-19 cases today out of the total 1,937 infections registered nationwide.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said out of the total infections recorded in the state, 714 or 86.8 per cent were reported from existing clusters and close contact screening operations.
“Selangor still recorded the highest number in new cases at 823.
“This is followed by Sabah with 429 cases and Kuala Lumpur at 238,” he said in a statement today.
Dr Noor Hisham said the daily infections in Selangor include 664 from existing clusters, 50 from close contact screenings, and the remaining 109 from other Covid-19 screenings.
No imported cases were recorded in the state today.
He said the country saw three new clusters today, with one involving the Gombak district called the Dang Mutiara Cluster. The cluster also includes the Dungun and Kemaman districts in Terengganu.
“The index case (75,588) was tested positive on December 9 after a sign on screening (registration entry) on an oil rig. The patient has been admitted to the Sungai Buloh Hospital.
“A total of 102 individuals have been screened and 10 were tested positive from the cluster,” he said.
Meanwhile, nine fatalities were reported in the country today, with one recorded in Selangor involving a 33-year-old male patient. This brings the total deaths in the state to 31.
Dr Noor Hisham said 408 people have recovered from the coronavirus in Selangor out of the 911 recoveries registered today.
The accumulated total in Selangor stands at 20,612 out of the cumulative figure in the country at 82,246.
