MBPJ: Trading, advertising licence holders urged to renew permits

SHAH ALAM, Dec 8 — Business trading and advertising licence holders operating within the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) area have been urged to renew their 2021 permits before the end of this year.

The media secretariat of the MBPJ Corporate Communications Unit said processing charges of RM50 will be imposed against trading and micro entrepreneurs for late renewal of their permits after December 31.

The department explained that traders may risk getting their licences revoked should they fail to perform the renewal of their licences after June 30, 2021.

“For outdoor advertisers, those who renew their licences between April and June 2021 will be imposed with a 1 per cent charge of the licence rate and 2 per cent for renewal between July and September 2021.

“Court actions will be taken upon failure to renew licences by October 2021,” it said in a statement yesterday.

The local authority added that enforcement checks and actions will be conducted starting from February 4, 2021, to focus on unlicensed premises and compliance to permit requirements.

He said enforcement actions such as compounds, notice issuances, confiscations and prosecutions will be executed upon failure to fulfil the regulations.

28,618 business traders and advertising licence holders as well as 9,348 vendors licence holders within the MBPJ area are required to renew their 2021 permits.

Licence holders can perform their renewal and printing directly online through the Smart Licensing system by visiting the elesen.mbpj.gov link.

MBPJ has also opened its customer service counters at 18 selected locations to assist licence holders facing related issues.
