SHAH ALAM, Nov 25 — The Selangor government has proposed the enforcement of the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) in several localities within the state similar to the EMCO placed at the Top Glove’s workers hostels in Klang.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said had suggested that the EMCO should be done in stages and take into account the localities and clusters that registered a spike in Covid-19 cases.

He said the state has identified two areas that should be under the EMCO.

“I will address the matter on proposing EMCO in several localities, similar to (the Top Glove’s workers hostel) in a special meeting today.

“There are at least two localities identified and we will fund the cost of the operations for the EMCO,” said Amirudin when met after the launch of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence at the Selangor State Secretariat building here today.

Yesterday, Selangor registered a sudden increase in Covid-19 cases when the state recorded 1,623 new infections.

However, the daily figure significantly dropped to 115 new cases today.

As of noon today, Klang registered the highest number of active cases with 4,019, followed by Hulu Langat (425), Petaling (286), Sepang (133), Kuala Langat (103), Gombak (60), Hulu Selangor (16) and Kuala Selangor (11).

In total, Selangor recorded a total of 12,693 cumulative cases.
