SHAH ALAM - The Selangor government’s swift action in implementing the temporary licence programme makes the state an exemplary in terms of assisting traders.

State executive councillor for local government Ng Sze Han said traders who have received the licence are allowed to operate until December next year.

“Currently, the local authorities are working on identifying suitable and safe sites to locate more traders.

“This move was implemented earlier than the free trade zone in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

“The Selangor government welcomes other states to follow suit for the interest of the traders,” he told SelangorKini.

Apart from the temporary licence, Ng said one-off assistance of RM500 was also disbursed for the welfare of the traders in facing the Covid-19 pandemic.

"The state government also exempted licence fees for six consecutive years, including next year," he said.

Since August, Selangor’s local authorities, starting from the Shah Alam City Council, have given out temporary permits to unlicenced traders in a move to help those in the low-income groups (B40) in generating income and stimulate economic growth.
