SHAH ALAM, Nov 23 — The Selangor government has selected several rural villages to implement pilot projects on network communication to move forward in digitalisation.

State executive councillor for rural development and traditional village Borhan Aman Shah said the locations are selected across Selangor, particularly focusing on areas which have poor network coverage.

“We have listed the selected villages and it will also become a platform to expand network communication to other areas as well.

“We hope the first project will run smoothly and would benefit the people living in rural areas,” Borhan told Selangorkini.

The Tanjong Sepat assemblyman said he had often received complaints from the locals in his constituency on the poor network coverage in the area.

“Following the Covid-19 situation, many daily affairs are being conducted online which makes it difficult for those living in the rural areas as they have poor network connectivity,” he said.

A total of RM369 million was allocated in the 2021 Selangor Budget 2021 for the Smart State and Digitalisation Agenda initiatives.

Selangor Menteri Besat Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had said the initiative is part of the state government’s efforts to holistically boost the economy through the transformation of services, social, businesses and entrepreneurship, value creation as well as the creative industry.
