SHAH ALAM, Nov 10 — An unidentified solvent believed to be the source of odour pollution detected in Sungai Selangor this afternoon has resulted in the forced closure of four water treatment plants (WTP) in Selangor.

The Selangor Water Management Authority (Luas) in a statement on Facebook today said the Rantau Panjang and the Sungai Selangor Phase 1, 2, and 3, WTPs had ceased operations at noon today following a level eight threshold odour number (TON) pollution detected at the Rantau Panjang WTP.

“The last reading taken during the morning checks at 6am had shown the reading was still at 0 TON.

“Luas and related agencies are investigating the matter and taking immediate mitigation action,” the statement read, adding that further developments will be updated from time to time.
