SHAH ALAM, Nov 4 — The sources of Selangor water supply are mainly from Sungai Selangor, Sungai Langat, Sungai Semenyih and Sungai Gombak, says the state Infrastructure and Public Amenities executive councillor Izham Hashim.
Izham Hisham said Selangor also receives its supply from river located near state borders such as Sungai Semantan in Pahang, Sungai Bernam, Perak, and Sungai Labu, Negeri Sembilan.
“The rivers that flow across the state are Sungai Pajam and Sungai Buah which is also the creek of Sungai Semenyih,” he said during the Selangor State Assembly sitting here today.
Izham was answering the question by Taman Medan assemblyman Syamsul Firdaus Mohamed Supri regarding the state’s water source and the cooperation between the states when hit by water supply crisis.
He said water operators from all states have signed a memorandum of understanding to deliver assistance by sending their water tanks (to one another) should a crisis occur beyond two days.
“We seek water tank assistance from across the country, and we would even use the fire tank if needed. That’s why we see these trucks carry various logos during a water crisis,” he added.
