SHAH ALAM, Nov 3 — The Selangor government aims to expand the use of the state’s contact tracing system SELangkah (Step In, Safely) in detecting the locations and patients of Tuberculosis (TB) as well as dengue.

It Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the system that was formulated for Covid-19 contact tracing should be improved to help the Selangor State Health Department in battling other diseases.

“The number of dengue and TB cases in Selangor is worrying, we can take into consideration the use of SELangkah to curb the spread of these diseases as well.

“The system has proven to have helped in Covid-19 contact tracing, perhaps we can further expand its usage,” he said when answering a question by Kota Anggerik assemblyman Mohd Najwan Halimi on the cost in developing SELangkah and its effectiveness in curbing the spread of Covid-19 during the Selangor Legislative Assembly sitting here today.

SELangkah was introduced on May 4 and has been further developed with several features including the map of premises that have undergone sanitisation procedure.
