KLANG, Sept 8 — Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) and Pengurusan Air Selangor (Air Selangor) have been instructed to cut the water and electricity supply to the factory believed to have caused the Sungai Selangor pollution, which resulted in four water treatment plants to temporarily shut down.

State Local Government, Public Transportation and New Village Development Executive Councillor Ng Sze Han said the order was made through the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) to ensure that the factory does not continue its operations.

“The factory had never received a business license as it did not have planning permission (KM). Without it, they would not be able to receive a license to operate.

“Stern action will be taken, we will cut their electricity and water supplies so that they cannot operate,” Ng told the media, commenting on the factory, which repairs heavy machinery, believed to be involved in the Sungai Gong water pollution incident.

Ng had addressed the matter after the temporary business license handover ceremony to the traders at the hawker sites located in front of Econmart Sungai Bertek, and Simbang Empat, Teluk Pulai, here today.

Yesterday, MPS had stated that the factory had been operating illegally since 2014 and had never applied for a license.

The MPS had put up a notice at the entrance of the factory under Section 70 (1) of the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974 for erecting a building without written permission from the council.

If the factory operator fails to submit a plan for approval within three days beginning yesterday, the factory will face demolition by the MPS.
