SHAH ALAM, July 28 — The local authorities in Selangor have begun monitoring playgrounds and recreational parks in the state following the enforced ban against smoking, vaping, and consuming alcoholic drinks in the said areas beginning July 14.

Selangor Local Government, Public Transport and New Village Development Committee chairman Ng Sze Han said since the new rule was implemented, no one has been caught for committing such activities.

“I am satisfied with this development and I hope that this would continue. We should care for our parks as a place for recreational activities,” Ng told SelangorKini.

On July 14, Selangor had announced a ban on smoking, vaping and drinking at all playgrounds and recreational parks throughout the state.

The ban came into force after the state government approved amendments to the Selangor Local Councils Park Bylaw 2005. Anyone caught committing an offence can be fined RM1,000.
