SHAH ALAM, June 24 — The Selangor football team is happy to be back on the field for practice since June 16, even though the new norms only allow non-contact training.

Head coach B. Satiananthan said the Red Giants had gone through two training sessions while complying to the standard operating procedure provided by the Malaysia Football League (MFL).

“I am satisfied with their players’ performance as many of them have maintained their body weight, and some have become more muscular for doing muscle-strengthening exercises.

“We will be focusing on defense such as dribbling, shooting and passing, starting from tomorrow,” he told when contacted by SelangorKini, today.

Satiananthan said all of the players are free from injuries and are prepared for training.

However, he said three players are exempted from training for the time being, namely Ifedayo Olusegun and Safuwan Baharudin both are currently in their respective homeland, while Khyril Muhymeen is on paternity leave.

He said that the team is also awaiting approval for full-contact practice sessions to be allowed as this would involve technical training.

Sathianathan, who is also the Football Coaches Association of Malaysia president, said he believes that MFL chief executive officer Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan will make due consideration to allow full-contact training in the near future.
