Huge potential, MB urges companies to explore investing in aerospace

By Khairul Azran Hussin

SHAH ALAM, June 11 — Selangor holds huge potential in exploring new investment network, especially in aerospace, to stimulate state economic growth, says its Menteri Besar.

With 62 per cent of aerospace-related companies in Malaysia operating in Selangor, Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari hoped more parties will grab the chance to become part of the industry ecosystem.

“More than 20 institutes of higher learning and academies in the state are offering courses in aerospace, (thus) Selangor has huge potential to explore this opportunity.

“The state government hope that more companies in Selangor will grab this opportunity to become part of the global aerospace industry ecosystem,” said Amirudin in his Facebook posting today.

Amirudin has previously set the target of Selangor becoming a major player in the global aerospace industry by 2030 through the Selangor Aerospace Action Plan executed by the Selangor Darul Ehsan Aerospace Industry Coordination Office (S-Daico).

In 10 years time, Malaysia’s industry in aero-manufacturing is expected to generate RM21.2 billion, while MRO or maintenance, repair and overhaul (RM20.4 billion), and RM13.6 billion for engineering and design services.
