Selangor now allows dine-ins, hawker stalls to operate

SHAH ALAM, May 12 — Restaurants and food operators are now allowed to fully operate and accept dine-in customers effective tomorrow, says Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

In a statement today, he said food and beverage outlets can operate from 7am to 10pm with the social distancing rule in place.

However, Amirudin said sidewalk and parking lot dining services are not allowed.

“Restaurants and food operators are urged to provide pre-order services to avoid overcrowding of customers.

“The local authorities will also do spot checks from time to time to ensure optimum compliance of the SOPs (standard operating procedures),” he said in the statement.

Amirudin said businesses without premises, such as roadside stalls and food trucks, can now operate from 8am to 10pm, but limited to drive-through, take-away and delivery services.

As for wet and fresh markets, the operation can run as normal but slaughtering activities and processing of animals, such as chickens, are not allowed at all markets.

Amirudin said the closure of morning markets (pasar pagi) and night markets (pasar malam) remain.

“Following the extension of the conditional movement control order (CMCO) until June 9, the state government had today met with city mayors, local authorities, and district officers and had agreed on the decision made,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said all parks are now open for outdoor sports and recreational activities from 7am to 7pm, including fishing activities.

However, hiking and camping are still not allowed.

Amuridin said that the Selangor state secretariat will issue a detailed circular on the new rules, which is effective from May 13 to June 9.

“Any other activities or matters that have not been mentioned are subject to the SOPs set by the National Security Council (NSC),” he added.

Previously on May 3, Selangor had enforced the modified CMCO by restricting several sectors from fully operating to allow some time for the businesses to adopt and familiarise with the new SOPs.
