PETALING JAYA, April 7 — The Selangor government has placed one district officer at the quarantine centres in the state to coordinate the supply of basic necessities for those who are under quarantine at the specified locations.

Its Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the officers will also monitor the activities and movements at the centres according to the standard operation procedures (SOP) in place.

“We will help the quarantine centres in terms of manpower by placing a district officer who will oversee the operations.

“The preparations made by the officers have to be according to the SOP that is already in place. As for food preparations, that will be prepared by the Social Welfare Department (JKM)” he said after visiting the quarantine centre located at the Sunway Clio Hotel here today.

As of noon yesterday, 389 people have been placed under a 14-day quarantine at the hotel since it began its operations on April 5.

Amirudin said another two quarantine centres in the state — Hilton Hotel in Petaling Jaya and the Judicial and Legal Training Institute (ILKAP) in Bandar Baru Bangi — have begun operations to accommodate persons under surveillance (PUS) and patients under investigation (PUI).

“The quarantine centres have been set up to separate those who are under surveillance or investigation so that we can stop the chain of the Covid-19 infections.

“I believe the isolation method would safeguard the health and safety of the public,” he said.
