SHAH ALAM, March 29 — An enhanced movement control order may be issued for two areas in Selangor due to the high number of Covid-19 cases detected.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham said the Federal government is mulling issuing a similar order that has been in place in two areas in Simpang Renggam, Kluang in Johor on March 27 to April 9.
However, he did not specify which areas in Selangor are under consideration for the order to be tightened.
The Kluang constituency had 83 confirmed positive Covid-19 cases when the order was enforced.
With the enforcement of the order, all residents and visitors in the area would not be allowed to move out of their homes during the enhanced order period.
Visitors out of the area would also not be allowed to enter and all business activities would not be able to continue operations.
“If we look at the highest number of cases, Selangor tops the list. We would then look at which areas or zones (in the state) that have the highest data.
“We have identified one or two zones in Selangor where we might impose a similar order as we did for Simpang Renggam,” said Dr Noor Hisham in a press briefing on Covid-19, today.
As of noon today, there has been an increase of 33 new positive Covid-19 cases in Selangor, bringing the total in the state to 612.
Meanwhile, according to the data from the Health Ministry as of noon yesterday, Petaling Jaya recorded the highest number of cases with 209, followed by Hulu Langat (206), Gombak (57), and Klang (51).
