SHAH ALAM, Feb 27 — The Japanese Ambassador to Malaysia, Hiroshi Oka, had praised the ‘Amal Khair’ charity programme implemented by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais), which is applied to the pupils of Sekolah Rendah Agama (SRA) Integrasi Seksyen 19, here.

Visiting the school for the first time, Oka said he was impressed by the moral values taught through the programmes carried out in the school, which he said should be emulated by other institutions.

“These good practices in the classroom include ‘Minda Mumtaz’ (reading corner), the ‘Haruman Kasturi’ project that emphasises on toilet hygiene, and the teaching of healthy eating habits through the ‘Halalan Toyyiban’ programme.

“There is also the ‘Laluan Rosif’ located along the school hallways, the school assemblies aimed to educate the students on discipline, reading habit awareness programme organised by the school resource centre, and efforts to educate the students on donating,” he said after his visit at the school, here today.

Oka had also commended the students’ English proficiency in the classroom.

“I am sure that this is all due to the tireless efforts by the teachers in educating the students. The teachers should be praised for their performance,” he said.

During his four-hour visit, the school’s headmaster Filzah Mohd Nor had briefed on the practices behind ‘Amal Khair’.

Also present was Jais’ Education Management Sector Head, Mohd Jaafar Komari, and the school’s parent-teacher association president Taqiuddin Amani Satar.
