SHAH ALAM, JUNE 27: The responsibility to stop Aedes from breeding is not State Government alone, on the contrary, the public must also be aware on the danger of Dengue.

Health, Welfare, Women and Family Development Exco, Dr Daroyah Alwi said, all parties are advised to be open and responsible to ensure Aedes breeding grounds are destroyed.

“In fact, it is not the responsibility or duty of the Health Exco, local authority or Menteri Besar. Everyone including community leaders and the public should have the awareness on the dangers of dengue.

“We must all be aware of the dangers of dengue and how fatal it is if we continue to neglect hygiene.

Meanwhile, Dr Daroyah said, the cleanliness on the local environment must be made a priority all the time.

She said, that is to ensure there are no Aedes breeding grounds which would lead to the spread of dengue fever in Selangor.

“Rubbish that is left unattended can become a medium for Aedes breeding.

“Rain at night and early morning also contributes to the rise in dengue fever cases,” she said to SelangorKini.

Daroyah said, among the approach taken to control and prevent the spread of dengue include larviciding with the aim to halt the Aedes life cycle at the larvae stage.

“Therefore, the community is advised to be careful and take preventive measures including not throwing rubbish or plastic bags indiscriminately.

“The community is also advised to use long-sleeved clothes and recommended to use insect-repellant,” she said.
