“We have given RM100,000 to each local authorities to for dengue prevention programmes in their respective jurisdictions,” she said after chairing the Selangor Dengue Action Committee Meeting recently.

Daroyah said, between January 1 and May 13 this year, Petaling district recorded the highest number of dengue fever which is 5,958 followed by Hulu Langat (4,927), Klang (3,395) and Gombak (2,057).

She also said that PCO implementation is effective since dengue cases is reducing since January.

“Therefore, we prepare this budget for dengue control until end of this year when the outbreak is expected to be widespread due to several factors among which are climate change and unpredictable raining season.

“Besides that, dengue breeding in premises is among the main cause of dengue cases increasing. This is because health officers are not able to check and brief regarding dengue-control measures in residential houses,” she said.
