SHAH ALAM, August 21: Today, the government has decided to cancel the move to list borrowers of the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) in the Central Credit Reference Information System (CCRIS).
Umno Youth Chief, Khairy Jamaluddin informed this in a statement on his Facebook page today, right after the meeting with the Cabinet ended.
This decision was possibly made based on the pressure from various parties who did not agree when the Second Education Minister, Datuk Seri Irdis Jusoh announced that PTPTN will blacklist loan defaulters in the CCRIS, with cooperation from Bank Negara.
Yesterday, almost all major portals published the views of various parties against PTPTN's move.
CCRIS is a Bank Negara database that stores information of credit borrowers reported by financial institutions.
