Malaysians in Yemen advised to leave amid escalating conflict

SHAH ALAM, Nov 1 – Malaysians in Yemen have been urged to make immediate preparations to leave the country voluntarily amid escalating tensions and ongoing armed conflict

The Malaysian Embassy in Muscat, Oman, said that it is closely monitoring security developments in Yemen, where the security situation remains unpredictable.

“In view of the unpredictable security situation, all Malaysians remaining in Yemen are advised to prioritise their personal safety and make immediate preparations to leave the country voluntarily while commercial flights remain available,” the notice said on Facebook today.

The embassy advised Malaysians to plan their departure carefully by ensuring their travel routes were safe, transportation was available, and all necessary travel documents were in order.

They were also urged to remain vigilant, avoid conflict areas, monitor security developments and follow instructions from local authorities.

The notice also advised Malaysians to postpone all travelling plans to Yemen until the security situation stabilises.

“Malaysians who remain in Yemen and have yet to register with the Embassy are urged to do so through the e-Konsular portal at https://ekonsular.kln.gov.my and to download the MyWorldAlert application,” it added.

Further updates will be shared through the Embassy's official communication channels, and Malaysians requiring consular assistance can contact the emergency hotline at +968 7159 2388 or emailmwmuscat@kin.gov.my.

The advisory comes amid renewed fighting in Yemen, where Iran-backed Houthi rebels have intensified attacks against forces supporting the country’s internationally recognised government, which is backed by a Saudi-led coalition.

According to Al Jazeera, the Houthis launched five missiles at Al-Maashiq Presidential Palace in the southern city of Aden on October 15, killing five people and injuring 16 others.

The palace serves as the headquarters of Yemen’s internationally recognised government.

The following day, two missiles landed within the grounds of Aden International Airport as a passenger aircraft was preparing to depart Cairo, although no casualties were reported.
