Bersatu signs deal with Madani Govt to support Budget 2027

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29 — Bersatu today signed a Confidence and Supply Agreement (CSA) with the MADANI Government, committing to support the passage of the Supply Bill 2027 (Budget 2027).

The agreement was signed by Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, vice-presidents Datuk Radzi Jidin and Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, and four other MPs from the party.

They were Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah (Langkawi), Datuk Ali Biju (Saratok), Mohd Nazri Abu Hassan (Merbok) and Datuk Azman Nasrudin (Padang Serai).

Also having signed the agreement were Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman from MUDA and six Independents — Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanapi (Tanjong Karang), Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal (Bukit Gantang), Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang), Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), and Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan).

The signing ceremony, held at Parliament, was witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, and senior political adviser to the prime minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

Beyond the Budget 2027 vote, the CSA also provides for participating MPs to support key government initiatives, including institutional reforms such as limiting the prime minister’s tenure to two terms and separating the attorney-general and public prosecutor’s roles.

Speaking to the media after the signing, Muhyiddin said the agreement follows a similar model of cooperation established during the administration of former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

“The sole objective is to foster greater national stability and to manage critical matters affecting the people, particularly the economy, the cost of living and other related issues.

“This agreement will help ensure stability, allowing the government to manage the country in a more orderly manner,” he said.

However, Muhyiddin stressed that the agreement does not mean Bersatu has joined the government, and said the party would remain the opposition and keep acting as a check and balance.
