PUTRAJAYA, Oct 23 — The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) and Prosignal Consortium Sdn Bhd have been asked to provide an explanation over problems with local navigation app TuJu, said Madani Government spokesman Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil.
He said LLM acknowledged the problems and confirmed improvements are underway.
“The explanation from LLM and Prosignal is crucial to addressing users’ concerns comprehensively, improving TuJu’s reliability and strengthening public confidence in the local navigation app,” he told a press conference after a Cabinet meeting here today.
Fahmi, who is also communications minister, encouraged the public to consider alternative local and foreign navigation apps.
“What matters is avoiding Waze due to security concerns highlighted by the National Security Council,” he said.
On Tuesday, the government encouraged Malaysians to use TuJu, developed by LLM, as an alternative navigation app.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said this is due to concerns over data security, citing Waze’s links to Israeli law.
TuJu was developed by Prosignal under a memorandum of understanding with LLM on May 26, 2022. The app was launched on November 26, 2025.
