KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 — The nation's projected achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 has risen to 58 per cent, up from 49 per cent last year, and surpassing the global projection of 35 per cent.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the improvement reflects the country's progress in advancing the SDG agenda, although further efforts were needed to ensure development benefited all Malaysians.
“To me, the SDGs are not merely about numbers and targets, but a commitment to ensuring national development brings meaningful change to people's lives, leaving no one behind or marginalised,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Earlier, Anwar chaired the 2026 National SDG Council meeting, which reviewed Malaysia's progress in implementing the goals.
He added that the meeting also assessed progress on 10 key SDG priorities directly affecting public well-being, including child malnutrition, mental health, empowerment of disabled persons, environmental sustainability, fraud threats, and efforts to narrow development gaps between states.
