SHAH ALAM, Oct 22 — Fifteen air quality monitoring stations in Malaysia recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings, with five in Selangor, as of 9am today.
According to the API Management System (APIMS) portal, five out of six stations in Selangor logged unhealthy air quality readings, namely, Klang and Johan Setia (155), Petaling Jaya (154), Shah Alam (152), and Banting (131).
Kuala Selangor was the only local station with a moderate score of 77.
In the Klang Valley area, Batu Muda had the highest API reading at 152, while Cheras and Putrajaya were at 140. All three readings were unhealthy.
Out of Malaysia’s 68 air quality monitoring stations, 15 showed unhealthy API readings and 50 had moderate scores. Only three had good air quality — Sabah’s Politeknik Kota Kinabalu (43) and Kimanis (40), and Sarawak’s Limbang (35).
An API reading of zero to 50 is good, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, and anything above 300 is hazardous.
