SHAH ALAM, Oct 19 – The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has taken immediate action to address flash floods at Lembah Subang 1 Public Housing Project (PPRT) on Jalan PJU 1A/46 on October 17 and 18.
According to MBPJ, an inspection on October 18 found that construction debris, refuse, and sediment accumulation obstructed water flow within the drainage system.
Following the matter, the council carried out structural modifications to the drainage system the same day to improve water flow and reduce the risk of overflow.
The council also instructed the infrastructure contractor to clean drains regularly and ensure construction materials do not obstruct the drainage system throughout the road upgrading works.
“We will continue to monitor the situation on-site and ensure that follow-up measures are implemented to mitigate the risk of recurring floods, for the safety and well-being of the residents,” said MBPJ.
