PUTRAJAYA, Oct 18 — The Finance Ministry (MOF) has dismissed as false claims that service charges for quick response (QR) code payments would be introduced on November 1, as stated in a viral poster.
It emphasised that no official announcement had been made about imposing QR code payment service charges, as the poster claimed.
“The public is advised not to believe or share the poster claiming that QR payment service charges will be introduced on November 1, 2026, as the information is false,” the MOF said in a Facebook post.
It advised the public to verify information through its official channels before sharing it to prevent the spread of fake news that could mislead the public.
The poster had circulated widely on Facebook and Threads earlier, drawing mixed reactions and comments from social media users.
