SHAH ALAM, Oct 17 — Scattered showers across Selangor and the wider Klang Valley have little improved Air Pollutant Index (API) readings, with the state’s worst air quality detected in Johan Setia.
As of 7pm, Johan Setia had an API score of 174, followed by Klang (171), Shah Alam (170), Petaling Jaya (167), Banting (162), and Kuala Selangor (106), all in the unhealthy category.
Nearby, Putrajaya had an API reading of 167, while Kuala Lumpur’s Cheras and Batu Muda were at 163 and 160, respectively.
Of Malaysia’s 68 air quality monitoring stations, 25 showed unhealthy scores and 41 had moderate ones. Two towns had good API readings — Sarawak’s Limbang (42) and Penang’s Balik Pulau (50).
An API reading of zero to 50 is good, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, and anything above 300 is hazardous.
