KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 — The Selangor Technical Skills Development Centre (STDC) is shoring up collaborations with industry players by being directly involved in developing training modules to ensure they fulfil hi-tech and high-value sectors’ demands.
STDC chief executive officer Harizal Hamid said these collaborations are essential to making sure skilled talent can be developed based on real industry demands, in addition to boosting human capital development in Selangor.
“The main concept of these collaborations isn’t just (about) industry branding; … these industries have a responsibility in (helping develop) education modules, accreditation and certification,” he said when met yesterday at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on the sidelines of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS).

Harizal said the Selangor Techsphere Summit, held under the auspices of SIBS, is a platform to explore new technology especially in high-growth, high-value sectors.
“(STS) is a platform for collaboration between industries, STDC, the state government, and parties involved in the migration economy that adapt new technology.
“Our main move is … (networking) with industries,” he said.
Harizal said STDC constantly revamps its training modules so there are no gaps or inequalities in student competencies, certification or education.
