Surprise inspection sees seven Klang traders, six shops fined

SHAH ALAM, Oct 15 — The Klang Royal City Council (MBDK), during an inspection, fined seven operators in Taman Kota Pendamar, Port Klang, each RM1,000 for not putting garbage bins outside their shops.

According to a The Star report, MBDK Environmental Services Department director Zaireezal Ahmad Zainuddin said the inspection was part of the council’s ongoing efforts to curb illegal dumping and littering in commercial areas.

“Under the MBDK Licensing, Business Trade and Industry By-Laws 2007, business owners on Jalan Permai are legally mandated to maintain proper waste disposal bins outside their establishments to ensure cleanliness and prevent vector-borne diseases,” he said.

Zaireezal reminded all traders in Klang to comply with the council’s hygiene regulations, adding that surprise inspections would continue in Port Klang and other areas.

In September, enforcement personnel inspected 43 business premises in Taman Kota Pendamar. Subsequent checks along Jalan Kebun Baru, Jalan Klang Perdana and Kampung Perepat found six shops operated by foreigners without valid business licences.

“Our checks revealed that the business activities, including convenience stores, hair salons, grocery stores selling chicken, and food preparation premises, did not have valid licences from MBDK’s Licensing Department,” said Zaireezal.

He said the businesses were managed and operated by foreigners, adding that the fronts were shut immediately.

“MBDK views any unlicensed business activities seriously, particularly those involving foreigners,” he added.
