KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 — Malaysia Airlines yesterday cancelled all flights from Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru to Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah and Madinah until Saturday as a precaution following recent attacks on airports there.
In a statement, the airline said affected passengers may request a refund or rebook their flights at no additional cost within 30 days of their original departure date.
Passengers may submit their rebooking or refund requests via My Booking tab on the Malaysia Airlines website or mobile app, live chat, or its Global Contact Centre at 1 300 88 3000 (within Malaysia) or +603 7843 3000 (international).
“Passengers are also reminded to ensure their contact details are up to date via My Booking to receive timely notifications,” the airline said.
The carrier said it would keep monitoring developments in the region, with the safety of passengers and crew its highest priority.
“Flights to and from Doha, Qatar, remain operational at this time,” it said.
The airline apologised for the inconvenience and disruption to passengers’ travel plans and thanked them for their understanding.
On October 10, a Houthi attack struck a passenger terminal at the King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, killing 13 people and injuring 309 others, according to Saudi authorities.
