SHAH ALAM, Oct 12 — A programme to repair up to 1,000 homes belonging to the B40 low-income group in urban and rural areas is among the initiatives proposed for consideration under the 2027 Selangor Budget.
State executive councillor for housing and culture Datuk Borhan Aman Shah said the proposal was submitted to Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari to help low-income households enjoy more comfortable living conditions.
“We have submitted several proposals to the Menteri Besar, including a programme to repair B40 homes in both urban and rural areas.
“We are targeting between 500 and 1,000 homes across Selangor. The details will be worked out after the budget is tabled,” he said.
Borhan was speaking to the media after officiating the National Housing Symposium, which brought together housing agencies from eight states, today.
He added that the proposal will cover all of Selangor, without restricting implementation to specific areas, with a target of between 500 and 1,000 homes.
As such, the councillor hopes that the initiative will help low-income families repair their homes.
In a separate development, Borhan welcomed the federal government’s focus on the housing sector under Budget 2027, including efforts to revive abandoned projects and incentives for homebuyers.
The full stamp duty exemption for first-time homebuyers purchasing properties priced at up to RM500,000, as well as the full exemption on the first RM500,000 and a 50 per cent exemption on the remaining value for homes priced at up to RM750,000, are expected to ease buyers’ financial burdens.
He noted that new-home buyers typically had to set aside additional funds for renovation work and household furnishings.
“When people buy a new home, they naturally need a substantial amount of money for renovations and to purchase household equipment.
“That is why, in Selangor, we provide basic fittings and appliances, such as air conditioners, televisions, kitchen stoves, and cabinets, through the Rumah Idaman and Rumah Harapan housing schemes to help homebuyers,” Borhan said.
