SHAH ALAM, Oct 12 — Four local authorities within the Selangor Greater Klang Valley (SGKV) will be the first to undergo a performance and public satisfaction survey before the exercise is expanded across the state.
Local government executive councillor Dato' Ng Suee Lim said the initial phase would involve the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ), Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) and Klang Royal City Council (MBDK).
"The initial phase will focus on the SGKV, covering the cities of Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya and Subang Jaya, as well as the royal city of Klang.
"In the second phase, the survey will be extended to all 12 local authorities to assess their performance, service delivery systems and public satisfaction with the services provided," he told Media Selangor recently.
Ng said any shortcomings identified through the survey would be addressed to ensure continuous improvements in the quality of services provided by local authorities.
"If there are weaknesses, we will address them and take the necessary steps to make improvements.
"We want to ensure that the people are always satisfied with and proud of the services provided by local authorities in Selangor," he said.

Previously, Ng said the state government was preparing to appoint an independent body to conduct the survey as early as next year.
The survey will involve service users, taxpayers and members of the public, with the assessment methodology taking into account the different categories and administrative responsibilities of each local authority.
The appointed independent body will determine the survey methodology, including the preparation of questionnaires, sample selection and appropriate performance indicators, to ensure accurate assessments.
The state government is also prepared to establish a task force to assist local authorities that fail to meet the stipulated indicators, helping them address weaknesses and improve the quality of services delivered to the public.
