KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 8 — A total of 38 areas nationwide recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 9 am today.

According to the Department of Environment's (DOE) Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, Segamat in Johor recorded the highest API reading at 187, followed by Nilai in Negeri Sembilan (183).

In Selangor, all six monitoring stations registered unhealthy readings, with Johan Setia recording 178, followed by Shah Alam (170), Banting (167), Klang (166), Petaling Jaya (165) and Kuala Selangor (155).

Other areas in the Klang Valley that recorded unhealthy air quality were Putrajaya (173), Cheras (172) and Batu Muda (168).

In Pahang, Rompin recorded an API reading of 174, followed by Indera Mahkota and Balok Baru in Kuantan (165 each), and Temerloh (153).

In Negeri Sembilan, Seremban recorded an unhealthy API reading of 182, while Port Dickson registered 168.

In Melaka, the affected areas were Bukit Rambai (172), Melaka City (171) and Alor Gajah (167).

Meanwhile, in Johor, unhealthy readings were recorded in Pasir Gudang (180), Kluang (179), Larkin (178), Tangkak (172), Pengerang (165), Kota Tinggi (164) and Batu Pahat (161).

In Perak, the affected areas were Seri Manjung (160), Tasek Ipoh (159), Taiping (154), Pegoh Ipoh (153) and Tanjung Malim (152).

Two areas in Terengganu also recorded unhealthy air quality, namely Kemaman (155) and Paka (146).

In Penang, unhealthy API readings were registered in Seberang Perai (156), Minden (155) and Seberang Jaya (153), while Sungai Petani in Kedah recorded 153.

Another 30 areas nationwide recorded moderate API readings, while none registered good air quality.

API readings between 0 and 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and readings above 300 hazardous.
