SHAH ALAM, Oct 7 – Johan Setia records the highest Air Pollutant Index (API) reading nationwide at 191, as of 12pm today.
According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, Kuala Lumpur’s Cheras recorded the second-highest reading at 190, followed by Negeri Sembilan’s Nilai at 189 and Putrajaya at 187.
In Selangor, Shah Alam logged the second-highest reading at 180, followed by Petaling Jaya (177), Banting (176) and Klang (170), all within the unhealthy category.
The portal also reported unhealthy API readings in Batu Pahat, Johor (185), Segamat (177), Bukit Rambai, Melaka (175), Pasir Gudang, Johor (174), Alor Gajah and Bandaraya Melaka at 173 each, as well as Larkin, Johor (169).
Nationwide, the portal showed 36 areas recording unhealthy API readings while 30 areas listed under moderate air quality levels as of noon.
Only two areas recorded good air quality, with Perlis’ Kangar logging a 33 API reading, followed by Langkawi, Kedah at 45,
An API reading of zero to 50 is categorised as good, 51 to 100 as moderate, 101 to 200 as unhealthy, 201 to 300 as very unhealthy, and 301 and above as hazardous.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions and limit outdoor activities, particularly in areas recording unhealthy API readings.
