KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 — The Air Pollutant Index (API) reading in Johor’s Batu Pahat edged into the very unhealthy category with a score of 211 at 10pm today, the highest nationwide.
According to the API Management System (APIMS) portal, this was followed by Negeri Sembilan’s Nilai (180), Selangor’s Johan Setia (177), and Negeri Sembilan’s Seremban (176).
Unhealthy API readings were logged across much of Selangor, at 172 in Shah Alam, 166 in Petaling Jaya, 165 in Banting, and 162 in Klang. Kuala Selangor was the only Selangor station with a moderate reading of 86.
Elsewhere in the Klang Valley, Putrajaya’s air quality score was an unhealthy 173, followed by Kuala Lumpur’s Cheras (172) and Batu Muda (169).
In total, 31 areas had unhealthy readings nationwide, and 31 logged moderate scores. Only five had good API readings — Kedah’s Alor Setar (47), Sabah’s Kota Kinabalu (47), Penang’s Balik Pulau (44), Kedah’s Langkawi (30), and Perlis’ Kangar (23).
An API reading of zero to 50 is categorised as good, 51 to 100 as moderate, 101 to 200 as unhealthy, 201 to 300 as very unhealthy, and 301 and above as hazardous.
