SHAH ALAM, Oct 6 — Air quality deteriorated in Selangor this afternoon, with four areas recording unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings compared with none this morning.
According to the API Management System (APIMS) portal at 1pm, Johan Setia had a reading of 154, followed by Shah Alam (151), Petaling Jaya (141) and Banting (130).
Two other monitoring stations in the state showed moderate air quality, namely, Klang (97) and Kuala Selangor (69).
Nationwide, 27 areas logged unhealthy API readings, with the top five all in Johor: Batu Pahat (194), Segamat (170), Kluang (169), Pasir Gudang (168), and Tangkak (168).
Other areas in the Klang Valley with unhealthy readings were Putrajaya (158), Cheras (155), and Batu Muda (153).
Thirty-five areas in Malaysia recorded moderate API readings, while six had good air quality.
An API reading of zero to 50 is categorised as good, 51 to 100 as moderate, 101 to 200 as unhealthy, 201 to 300 as very unhealthy, and 301 and above as hazardous.
