SHAH ALAM, Oct 6 — A male student was killed and his friend injured after two motorcycles collided along Jalan Sungai Buaya in Hulu Selangor yesterday afternoon.
In the 2.30 pm incident, the two students were believed to have been travelling from school towards Loji Bandar Sungai Buaya.
Hulu Selangor district police chief Superintendent M Manimaran said police received information about the incident at 3.22 pm.
“Preliminary investigations found that the crash occurred when a motorcycle travelling in the right lane was believed to have made a U-turn.
“The rider of another motorcycle travelling in the same direction was unable to avoid it because of the short distance and crashed into the motorcycle,” he said, as reported by Harian Metro.
Manimaran said the impact of the collision caused one of the students to die at the scene.
He said the victim’s body was later taken to the Forensic Department at Hospital Kuala Kubu Bharu for a post-mortem examination.
The other student suffered a broken right arm and was taken by family members to Hospital Sungai Buloh for treatment.
“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist investigations.
“Information can be channelled to traffic investigating officer Inspector Nurul Anati Zulkifli at 03-6064 1222 or any nearby police station,” he said.
