SHAH ALAM, Oct 3 — Three areas in Johor and one in Sarawak logged unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at 10pm today, with the highest score in Johor’s Pasir Gudang at 154.
It was followed by Johor’s Larkin (151), Sarawak’s Serian IPD (111), and Johor’s Batu Pahat (106), according to the API Management System (APIMS) portal.
Meanwhile, Selangor’s six air quality monitoring stations showed moderate readings, with the highest figure logged in Johan Setia at 85. Lower than that were Shah Alam (83), Petaling Jaya (77), Banting (76), Klang (73), and Kuala Selangor (57), joining 53 other towns nationwide in the moderate category.
Nearby in Kuala Lumpur, Batu Muda recorded an API reading of 85 while Cheras scored 84. Putrajaya logged a reading of 84.
Four areas in four states had good air quality, namely, Sabah’s Sandakan (50), Kelantan’s Tanah Merah (48), Kedah’s Langkawi (40), and Perlis’ Kangar (31).
Sabah’s Kota Kinabalu monitoring station is still unavailable, according to the APIMS portal.
An API reading of 0 to 50 is good, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, and anything above 300 is hazardous.
