SHAH ALAM, Oct 3 — Two towns each in Johor and Sarawak logged unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at 12pm today, after they recorded moderate readings for most of yesterday.
According to the API Management System (APIMS) portal, the highest reading at noon was in Johor’s Pasir Gudang (154), followed by Sarawak’s Sri Aman (152), Johor’s Larkin (149), and Sarawak’s Serian IPD (149).
In Selangor, all six monitoring stations reflected moderate air quality statewide, with the highest API reading in Johan Setia at 78, followed by Shah Alam (75), Klang (69), Banting (67), Petaling Jaya (67), and Kuala Selangor (57).
Nearby in Kuala Lumpur, Cheras recorded an API reading of 86, while Batu Muda was at 78. Putrajaya meanwhile was at 77.
Four areas across three states had good air quality, namely, Pahang’s Temerloh (50), Kedah’s Kulim Hi-Tech (48), Kedah’s Langkawi (46), and Perlis’ Kangar (43).
The APIMS portal has the monitoring station in Sabah’s Kota Kinabalu as unavailable, with no details provided.
An API reading of 0 to 50 is good, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, and anything above 300 is hazardous.
