SHAH ALAM, Oct 2 — Air quality across the country improved this evening, with no area recording unhealthy Air Pollutant Index reading as of 5pm.
According to the API Management System (APIMS) portal, 65 haze monitoring stations out of 68 recorded moderate readings.
Cheras in Kuala Lumpur saw the highest reading at 96, followed by Seri Manjung, Perak (92), Sri Aman, Sarawak (92), Seria, Sarawak (92), and Seberang Perai, Penang (89).
In Selangor, Shah Alam had the highest API at 80, followed by Petaling Jaya (73), Klang (72), Kuala Selangor (68), Johan Setia (66), and Banting (59).
Elsewhere In the Klang Valley, Batu Muda recorded a reading of 88, while Putrajaya logged 73.
Three areas nationwide recorded good air quality: Kota Kinabalu (29) and Politeknik Kota Kinabalu (40), Sabah, and Limbang, Sarawak (43).
The improvement in air quality, particularly in the Klang Valley, could provide favourable conditions for tomorrow’s Gulf Air Bahrain Malaysia Formula One Grand Prix qualifying session at the Sepang International Circuit.
On Wednesday (September 30), National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) operations implementation section director Datuk Mazli Mazlan said 14 cloud seeding operations, involving more than 50 flights, have been carried out nationwide following transboundary haze and hot, dry weather.
An API reading of 0 to 50 is good, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, and anything above 301 is hazardous.
