SHAH ALAM, Oct 2 — Tourist attractions in Sepang and Kuala Langat are expected to draw international and out-of-state visitors attending the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix this weekend, providing a boost to local tourism and economic activity.
State executive councillor for local government and tourism Dato’ Ng Suee Lim said tourism activity around the area was already picking up ahead of the F1 race, with many businesses excited and prepared to welcome visitors.
“Besides attractions such as the dragon fruit farms and Sepang New Village, we believe visitors will also explore nearby areas, including Dong Zen Temple in Kuala Langat, or even spend a day in Cyberjaya experiencing its natural and cultural attractions,” he told Media Selangor in an interview.
Ng said he understood that hotels around Sepang were now almost fully booked, with domestic and international visitors heading to the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) expected to take the opportunity to explore Selangor.
“We hope visitors will not only attend the race but also explore Selangor, stay here, enjoy our food and shopping, and spend in the state so that the benefits of the event can reach more areas and businesses,” he said.

Attractions not to be missed
Meanwhile, Sepang municipal councillor Victor Chong Voon Fei said the F1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at SIC was expected to bring a large influx of domestic and international spectators and tourists to the Sepang area.
He encouraged visitors to make time during the three-day event to explore Sepang and its surrounding areas, including its dragon fruit farms, Sepang New Village, Sungai Pelek New Village, Cyberjaya and Dong Zen Temple in Jenjarom.
“I understand that Mitsui Outlet Park and nearby attractions are also offering various promotions in conjunction with this international event, so visitors should take advantage of the opportunity,” he said.
The Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia will be held at the Sepang International Circuit from October 2 to 4.
